Concert Choir
Concert Choir is Young Voices large performing choir, with an exciting history of concerts, guest appearances and tours. Concert Choir members are at least eleven years old and in 6th - 10th grade. Boys can stay in the choir, even after the voice change, as long as they can still use their treble voices effectively. Concert Choir members are highly encouraged to provide musical leadership in their schools by singing in their school choirs and/or performing in band or orchestra.
To be admitted into the Concert Choir, singers must be able to sing in tune throughout the treble range, and must be able to sing a part alone while another part is being sung. They must be able to sight-read basic patterns in solfege and demonstrate a desire to develop these sight-reading skills. The Concert Choir rehearses for two hours once a week.
Directed by Founder and Artistic Director, Jena Dickey, the Concert Choir performs in semi-annual Young Voices of Colorado major concerts as well as other concerts and guest appearances throughout the year. Concert Choir requires a full-year's commitment including a weekend retreat in the fall and a spring festival or tour.
