WinterSong
This popular, intensive weekend honor choir serves 4th – 6th graders
in the south suburban area who love singing and who are recommended
by their school music teachers. The honor choir is a way to get more
children involved in musical opportunities within their schools and
communities and to instill a passion for choral singing. 150 elementary
school singers come together at a local high school and learn about
proper singing technique as they rehearse together in preparation for
an evening performance. We are looking forward to our 2008 WinterSong
in March.
Boychoir Project
Boychoirs are a rare commodity, yet the unchanged male voice is a
beautiful instrument capable of rendering a precise tone of ethereal
and angelic quality. The once prevalent European Boychoir tradition
has not fared well in America, and there are few opportunities for
young boys who like to sing in our sports dominated culture. We have
the only treble Boychoir in Colorado, and we want to share our success
with elementary school music programs in our area. The Boychoir Project
helps us recruit boys for our Young Voices program and helps elementary
vocal music teachers encourage boys to sing at school. This year we
are holding our Boychoir Project Honor Choir at our rehearsal space
in the Highline Community Church, all day on Friday, November 16.

Music Teacher Workshop
We will be offering two accredited music teachers’ clinics in 2007-08.
These workshops will provide educational instruction and professional
growth opportunities for school choral directors, music educators,
and music education students. Our workshop will offer interactive
sessions and demonstrations led by our directors and guest choral
musicians. Our Fall 2007 guest clinician Dr. Judith Willoughby, Professor
of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Oklahoma City University,
and a second clinic is planned for Spring 2008. Both clinics will
focus on techniques specific to young singers and will provide practical
training in music education and repertoire selection.
